I got on LJ originally because of my sister (shakespearechic) but have come to discover that there are some pretty amazing people on here, who can make me laugh, cry, smile, think, react...it's awesome. I can also indulge in squeeing over my many fandoms without people thinking I'm weird. What's not to like?!?
I was born in Louisiana but have spent most of my life in the Lone Star State, save for three amazing years living in London. I went to the University of North Texas and got my Bachelor's degree in History & French (though sadly haven't spoken much since then! Eeep!) I am open-minded, easy going and I enjoy meeting new folks, so WELCOME to my journal!
Oh and I must point out with a name like mine -- I am a girl! :-p
Tracy Lord:"Dexter, say something. C. K. Dexter Haven:"Well, I..." Tracy Lord:"Oh, I'm such an unholy mess of a girl." C. K. Dexter Haven:"Well, now, that's not conversation." ~Katharine Hepburn & Cary Grant, The Philadelphia Story
"So, let us not be blind to our differences—but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved. And if we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity. For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal." ~ John F. Kennedy, American University Commencement speech, June 1963
Samantha Carter:"You have an effect on people, Daniel. The way you look at things, it changed me too. I see what really matters. I don't know why we wait to tell people how we really feel. I guess I hoped that you always knew." ~ "Meridian", Stargate SG-1
John Crichton:"My grandmother used to say life is a great wheel. Sometimes it grinds you down into the mud, other times it lifts you up into the light." D'Argo:"Are we strapped to this wheel?" Crichton:"That's a given. The point is, is that most times you get a second chance. You just gotta wait for the wheel." ~ "Self Inflicted Wounds, Part Two: Wait for the Wheel", Farscape
"I read every letter I get, and I’m gobsmacked, which is honestly my favorite word. Which means I’m overwhelmed by what people share with me, what people want to tell me, how Stargate or even me in particular has impacted them, and how open people are with me, how willing they are to share their hearts and stories. I’m just blown away by it, and I feel very blessed, so thank you very much. Especially women, I have to say, and this is not saying anything against the men, but so many women have shared stories that are particular to women in terms of what they have gone through with children or lack of children, and so I’m thrilled that in some way I can be a good sounding-board for people."~ Amanda Tapping, 2009 Vancouver convention
